The World Against Toys Causing Harm Inc., a.k.a WATCH listed the 2007's 10 Worst Toys of the Year. The ten toys listed may cause childhood injuries or sometimes even death. Thanks to WATCH's efforts, the possible dangers of toys have been exposed to the public, and has initiated product design changes.
Here are 5 of the toys included in the list.
1. "Go Diego Go" Animal Rescue Boat from Fischer-Price which was recalled on the 25th of October due to excessive lead on the toy' surface paint.
2. "Sticky Stones" from GeoCentral, which can cause potential injuries when swallowed, since multiple magnets inside the body can cause "intestinal perforation, infection, or blockage which can be fatal."
3. "Jack Sparrow's Spinning Dagger" from Zizzle, for potential serious eye and impact injuries.
4. "Dora The Explorer Lamp" from Funhouse, for potential electric hazard.
5. "Li'l Giddy-Up Horse - Sassy Pet Saks" from Douglas, for serious choking hazard.
Parents should take note of the recalled toys and should take precaution especially when buying toys online. A new study says that recalled toys have found new life in online auctions.
Inform yourself and read the complete list of recalled toys in the Consumer Product Safety Commission site.
