Antibiotics

It's that season once again when the common cold, flu and bronchitis are in the air. And in my experience, I have noticed that kindergartens and schools sometimes may seem like breeding grounds for viral diseases.

And when kids come home sniffling and sneezing, parents are quick to self-medicate. In their rush to make it all better, parents have been known to give kids antibiotics. Not knowing that this could actually do more harm than good.

Why?

An antibiotic is a drug that kills or slows the growth of bacteria. It does not help fight viruses and taking antibiotics could actually increaset he risk of getting an infection later that resists antibiotic treatment.

Parents, beware!

As parents, it is our responsibility to inform ourselves to make sure that we do not put our kids at risk.
