Are you talking to me?

We'd had a long day today and I didn't feel quite right, so I decided to doze on the couch while my daughter played Mario Kart on the Wii.

When I checked my email later tonight, I found an email – from her, from the Wii.

She was reminding me to add to my outlook schedule our plan to meet some family at Build-a-Bear this Sunday mid-day. Of course, that is a high priority to a 10 year old.

I'm the one who set up the Wii to be able to email back and forth from my email but I've only gotten two emails from the Wii itself, both from my daughter. And both times it freaked me out for a minute – was the Wii actually trying to talk to me? Oh no, it was my child.

No one showed her how it worked really, she just figured it out. Our friends Sara and Mike said she emails them Miis all the time. It is amazing how quickly children in this digital age can maneuver through things to test their limits. The Wii communication system is a double code one, both parties separately have to ended their friend's code to connect so I'm not worried about it now but it just another electronic Access Point to manage.

I confess, I hadn't added it to the schedule so it was kinda handy. Now if she can just use that mental power for remembering homework and project due dates!
