Babies Can Distinguish Between Good And Bad
Filed in archive Education by Melissa Petri on November 21, 2007

Apparently, Santa is not the only one who can tell who is naughty or nice. Babies as young as 6 months, can already distinguish between good and bad toys.
The study conducted by the Yale University's Infant Cognition Center shows that we humans have an innate social ability, that we are indeed social beings early on. The babies were presented with
googly eyed wooden toy trying to climb roller-coaster hills and then another googly eyed toy come by and either help it over the mountain or push it backward. Most of the babies picked the helpful toy or the neutral toy over the bad one.
However, when the eyes were removed, the babies no longer showed the same judging skills.
Preliminary research by the same team also showed that babies as young as 3-months shows similar response.
