As a baby wearing mama, I've tried many types of baby carriers. I haven't really been successful at wraps and slings, but because I believed in the benefits of baby-wearing, I pursued to find other alternatives. Besides, I needed something more convenient and practical for city living, something that frees up my hands while carrying my baby.

I struck gold with Baby Bjorn. I got the "Air" model which was made of mesh material that was more suitable to warm weather and it was superb. It wicked away moisture and heat, and I'd probably recommend this even for cooler weather. You can always just drape a blanket over the baby, or have her wear thicker clothes, or in winter, just zip her up with you in your coat (you might need larger coat to accommodate both of you, though). I used this since my daughter was newborn and compared to slings, it was almost effortless to slip the baby in and out of the Bjorn, and once secured, I could go for long periods without having to re-adjust anything.

Unfortunately, I was only able to use this carrier until my baby was about 9 months. The product description claims it can carry babies up to 25 pounds, and maybe they are right, but my back could not. Not sure if it would have made a difference with the Active or Synergy models, which offer lumbar support.
