Baby with Spinal Muscular Atrophy
The child being referred to is 17-month old Baby MB. He was born with spinal muscular atrophy.
To date, his family is still fighting the hospital's bid for permission to withdraw ventilation. Doctors advised that it is better to let him die as his life will anyway be "intolerable".
I do not know. My argument may sound simplistic but… no matter how I look at it, I still cannot understand why the court was asked to make a life or death ruling when, in fact, the parents are there to make the decision themselves. And they have… and yet…
