Kids and Travel
by Melissa Petri on January 3, 2006
I am back. My husband and I flew for 14 hours with a toddler who only slept for an hour during the flight. Now, that sounds like a nightmare, doesn't it? But, believe me, it wasn't.
The little man read all the books we gave him, colored the pages of his favorite characters, watched a bit of the airline cartoon network, walked with me from the galley/toilet and back and tried to figure out the remote control. We may not have gotten any sleep but, at least, we weren't stressed with worry. We didn't receive dirty looks from fellow passengers and stewardesses even stopped by to play from time to time.
If you are off with your own toddler anytime soon, check out AmericanBaby.com for a 10 question quiz to gauge your readiness to travel with a demanding companion who is slowly trying out his/her independence.
You can also check out babycenter for some information worth knowing.
Remember to be prepared and hope for the best. Even if your child is in his/her difficult phase, planning the trip to fit your child's needs will definitely help both parents and kids to "survive".

This was actually my "I am back" post to notify all of you, dear readers, that we are back to our regularly programming from today on. I just got a little carried away ;-)
