Becoming Parents

I had a strange feeling when we were looking at the pictures. It was B.C. time... Before Children. The albums were full of pictures of me and my husband during our vacations in the tropics back in 1999 and 2001. Time when it was mostly just us, a couple. A couple sans children.
We looked younger but I cannot help but feel like there is something missing in the pictures. Maybe because I cannot imagine life anymore without the kids. It feels a lot like the kids have always been a part of our lives. It's like they have always been there, ever present in all activities that we ever took part in.
Sure, parenting did affect our marriage and relationship. Adjustments had to be made. The transition wasn't easy but we did it. And now... now, I cannot even imagine anymore how it was when we just had "us" as a couple to consider.
What about you? Do you still remember those days? Those times when you only need to consider the needs of each other. Do you still remember how it was when going out for even a short while did not mean packing
a baby bag and planning things in advance?Permalink: Becoming Parents
