Blocks will do your kids good

I've always like playing with blocks. In fact, when my sister bought her son a new box of Lego, I sat with him the whole day, and constructed animals, houses and spaceships to my nephew's amazement (that was the only time he enjoyed playing with Tita, hehe). Unfortunately, I didn't get to play with Lego until I was in my teens. Damn, it would've done me better if I started earlier, lol. Although I did try my hand on playing Rubik's Cube when I was young, unfortunately I never did get to solve all sides :((

Anyways, report show that playing with blocks not only stimulates thinking, memory and physical mastery of objects, but it also helps children gain language skills. The study conducted by Dimitri Christakis and published in the Archives of pediatric and Adolescent Medicine says that the skills learned in playing with blocks are "the precursors of thought and change".

I think most of us know the advantages of playing with blocks, the results of the study is not really new. I think most toys stimulate children's senses and develops skills. Bottom line is, the child should enjoy what he's doing.
