We all know how important breakfast is for all of us. Especially for kids because they have to keep up with their body's nutritional needs. This, in turn, helps improve their performance in school & play and keep them healthy.
The School Breakfast Program has been implemented in some states for certain schools. "Breakfasts are free for about 90 percent of the children; the rest pay about 30 cents per meal." These schools are then reimbursed by the federal government for providing meals to kids.
"No child should have to start the school day hungry to learn, but unable to do so because of a hungry stomach," said James Weill, the center's president. "The states and schools that are leaving millions of hungry children behind need to act now."
A good initiative, IMHO.
But puh-leeasse, just because the School Breakfast Program exists, it does NOT mean that we, parents, should pass on the responsibility of taking care of our kids' nutritional needs to the school!
We have to "serve as role models for healthy eating habits that can last a lifetime." As parents, it is still important that WE keep track of everything that our children needs.

I believe that the school has the responsibility to take good care of its pupils. However, I agree that parents should have greater responsibility on taking care of their children. The school is just the second parent of a child.

I know that the school has the responsibility to take care of its pupils. But the greater responsibility is on the children's parents. The school only acts as second parent to them.
