Bullying is a problem that I wouldn't wany my child -- nor, someone else's child -- to experience.
boys directly bully other kids by taunting, hitting or threatening them. Bullying by girls are done subtly by spreading rumours or by socially isolating someone by intentional seclusion. Whether direct or subtle, bullying would obviously have negative consqeuences to the child being bullied and even to the bystanders who couldn't do anything.
Sometimes, I really am amazed how cruel some young kids can get.

As parents, we can prevent our kids from being a bully or a victim by teaching our kids the right values and appropriate social skills early in their life.
Yes... we all know it takes more than that, especially for those who are currently already bullying or being bullied. To know more about how we can prevent and/or solve this world-wide problem, read the "Bully Facts for Schools and Parents" from the National Association of School Psychologists.

Bullying comes in many forms and can definitely leave deep emotional scars. My children (boys 7 and 10)learn about bullying at school but I am not sure they can grasp the level of long term emotional damage as a result of bullying. Some of the most resourceful information I have found was from www.connectwithkids.com. I think education and open discussion about bullying is the key to prevention.

Parents need to contact their school counselor when they have concerns to share regarding their child being bullied.

Fortunately, this isn't a world-wide problem, as stated in the article. We people from other countries feel amazed when we see this problem pictured in many films. the absolute lack of empathy fromthe bullies makes you think of a deeply disturbed child. I think there should be more parental "presence" in those kids' lves, they should be taught to care about their pairs. I'm sure they've been taught not to be cruel to animals. What about other human beings?
