Cheap Textbooks

I can imagine how many parents and students are now concerned about the amount of money they need to spend for textbooks with the start of the new school year since, as reported, textbooks are way too expensive for students.
Gina of Lifehacker has a very timely question about this… "for our poor university students, we want to know: Where are the best places to get cheap textbooks?".
I searched online and found Campus Books which has a list of top college bookstores offering huge savings on new and used books.
For more ideas on where to get cheap textbooks, check out the readers' comments on Lifehacker.
Another idea is to ask your child to seek out their friends from higher classes. They may be able to borrow or buy the book at an even lesser price. As for your child's old textbooks, encourage him/her to trade them off or sell them to lower-class students.

I couldn’t agree more…One thing not many people are not aware of is the availability of “international edition” textbooks:

The Internet is great but watch for the location your book is being shipped from. Media mail takes weeks to cross the country. I like the tool at http://www.cheap-textbooks.com where I can connect to all the big textbook sellers by ISBN

I used the following website last semester to search for textbooks:
http://www.collegeswapshop.com
They have a tool that compares textbook prices so that you can find the cheapest textbook at several online bookstores. It’s free to use and doesnt require an account. Also, there is a student marketplace where you can post books and other stuff. This is also cool because you can purchase books directly from other students and avoid the bookstores altogether (and if you can find it within your school, you dont have to pay or wait for shipping). It requires an account, but the account is free.

I have been using price comparison sites like http://www.thecollegetextbooks.net for buying my textbooks. It is better than going for standalone stores. As you can save on lot of money using them.
