Not all marriages are made in heaven. It is also not difficult to imagine why some marriages end up in divorce. And despite its negative emotional (not to mention financial) effect on everyone concerned, it is sometimes the best (and only) choice.

Divorce could leave you feeling lonely, angry, undesirable and hopeless. And if children are in the equation, the emotional turmoil you go through is even magnified.

KidsHealth discusses ways on how to help your children through divorce. "Although the discussion about divorce should be tailored to your child's age and development, all children should receive the same basic message: "Mommy and Daddy used to love each other and were happy, but now we're not happy and have decided we'd be happier apart. What happened occurred between us, but we will always be your parents and we will always be there to love and take care of you."

Remember, not all children will react in the same manner upon receiving news of their parents divorce. Ironically, it may even be the time when they need both parents the most.
