Children's book author Richard Lynn Stack was recently banned from visiting Harford County Public Schools.
It was said that while Stack was in Abingdon Elementary School, a student asked him to autograph her forehead. Stack found her request absurd so he gave her an equally absurd -- at least, in his view -- response. Stack would agree if the 10-year old student would climb on a lunch table and take off her clothes.
Whether it was a mistake or not, it's not exactly the kind of phrase anyone should say to a child. A children's author who used to be a lawyer should know that.
Stack said that his response was taken out of context. Let's wait and see what the result of the informal investigation by the Harford County's Child Advocacy Center will be.
