And with that came the change in traditional daily routines and family dynamics. Women are not the only ones expected to wash the dishes, do laundry, cook and take care of the kids, among others. Both man and woman are now expected to share household chores, with older kids expected to pitch in as well.
And hey, did you know that men who do dishes do better in the bedroom?
My husband and I have always had a liberated lifestyle. Both of us worked since the beginning hence, we are used to sharing work at home. And after 3 years of living harmoniously, we suddenly found ourselves arguing about who does which. That was when we became parents. The lax rule that we had got a little hazy, with both of us assuming that the other could do it.
And with a toddler around, chores seem to double. And in some instances, it has caused a bit of bad air between us. Because both of us expected the other to do it.
After discussing our little problem in detail, we decided to make a schedule, with everyone getting a day off and with every chore rotated. It has been a month since we started our schedule and we've both easily adjusted to it. And yes, our place is a lot cleaner, our son is happy with the equal quality time he gets from both of us and yes, our relationship is even a lot better.
How about you? Do you get help with the household chores at home?
