Dream Mom

out there. Have you ever read Dream Mom's blog? While she'd never ask for sympathy or pity, she is an amazing woman who is a single parent to her disabled teenage son. She'd be the first to tell you she is just a mother taking care of her child. Honest and fearless, she communicates such a range of emotions.
She calls her son Dear Son and she's anonymous as well. Her son's diagnosis is Cryptogenic Infantile Spasms caused by the ARX Mutation, which of course most of us don't grasp but it is a situation that is getting progressively worse.
Most amazing to me are the moments she sees happiness and joy in her son. His communication is drastically limited but she can still be thrilled over a smile in his sleep or his attempts to give her a smooch.
I don't know if I could handle what she does. She is his primary caregiver and handles a huge range of medical and personal challenges for him.
I don't read her blog to feel better about my life. I read the blog to remember what being a parent means, that parenting can be a rough path but that you have to appreciate just the journey. All children are special and lovely, in their own way.
She's pretty amazing. Check her out - Dream Mom's blog
