Despite the presence of some naysayers who are out to discredit Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling's obra maestra is still raking in good reviews from parents and kids. And now, even Doctors are starting to rave about it.

Charu has reported that Harry Potter Mania Saves Children from Accidents.

Apparently, according to the "researchers at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, the number of kids brought to the hospital's emergency department dropped down to nearly half as the kids were in their beds reading the books...so no playing...no cycling ...so no injuries and accidents." A distraction therapy method that worked due to the number of kids who were, err... distracted by Harry Potter.

Charu adds that "there are plans of bringing out some more interesting books that could make kids sit at home and avoid accident. I don't think this is a good idea."

In my opinion, like in everything that we do, moderation is always the key. To bring out more books to make kids read is not bad, especially if this results in less accidents. However, kids should not just read. Their activities should be balanced. Besides, it would not do them good to live in a bubble wrap.
