Pregnancy
by Creative Weblogging on April 13, 2006
I've been so lucky in that I've been able to do as I desired and bring my children into this world naturally. No shots, no drugs, no painkillers. And, yes I get even more strange, I've been able to deliver all 3 of my wonderful little ones in my own home. No hospital. No doctor I barely know. No nurses I've never seen before.
I have a wonderful midwife named Helen and I pray that she will always make it in time to "walk me through the fire". She knows me by name. She knows everything that went on during my pregnancy. She knows whether I think it's a boy or a girl, and the names I have picked out.
With my last birth instead of announcing "It's a boy!" my midwife was able to say "Congratulations, Teegan is here." My mother was crying, my little sister Jayla was beaming, and my husband was so proud. And that was it. No one else was there. No one to rush him off to the nursery; I got to hold him 2 seconds after he was born and look into his face so innocent. And when it was over I didn't have to think about going home the next day - I was already there.

After the birth to my baby, I did have the same feeling that I could go home ASAP. I don't like sleeping in hospital. It's good to have a midwife like yours at home. Lucky you.
