Keeping Your Baby Safe At Home

Most houses are creeping with hazardous items that exposes our kids to possible accidents. Eventhough parents try to make the house as baby-friendy as possible, especially when babies start crawling, we always leave something or oversee something which might cause potential harm. Even a daily sweep of the house, doesn't guarantee that babies would not get into danger. However, when properly informed and with proper precaution, we could atleast minimize their exposure to danger.
Parenting.com compiled a list of dangers that are the leading causes of infant injury and death at home. I picked out three dangers, which I, the repeat offender, and many others, are guilty of.
1. A parent juggling an infant and a cup of coffee at the same time. Parents or caretakers should instead use a travel mug or an adult sippy cup. Also, parents should avoid leaving coffee or anything hot on the table, which could potentially be dangerous if the infant pulls the table cloth.
2. Leaving water in cleaning buckets. Although it might sound ridiculous at first, an unattended toddler
might fall in head first and not be able to right himself. Parents should instead make sure that their toddlers are either safely fastened in their seats or in the playpen when they're cleaning 3. Co-sleeping which could lead to potential suffocation or unintentional choking. This is very dangerous especially if a parent or both parents are deep sleepers. A crib that could be attached to the bed could be a possible solution, or it could be better if your baby learns to sleep alone in his crib.
