Have you ever thought about what experiences you want your children to have in life?

Not just the small things or the values you impart, but what events, places and activities do you want them to observe? Where, what and how? What of those do you want to experience with them?

The train trip is what spurred my thinking about this. The trip felt like one of those things you'd mark off your list of things you want to do. That make me thing what else specifically do I want my daughter to have.

I never saw the Bucket List movie but I understand it has the same sort of theme of making a list of things to do. Of course since the movie stars two 71 year old actors in Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, I'll assume they have more urgency and a flamboyant list than I do with a nine year old daughter.

I'm still working on my list but I know some things will be on it:

See the Grand Canyon
See the tide pools on the West Coast
London when she is old enough to appreciate it
See Jim Morrison's grave
Meet a president (before, during or after)
Get a really good internship one summer in HS
Take her to meet my extended family in Boston
Go to the Super Bowl
