Madonna in Malawi
Madonna is back in Malawi, with the Malawian boy she is currently in the process of adopting.
No, she has no plans of returning David Banda to his father, Yohane Banda who gave the boy up for adoption after his wife died from childbirth complications.
Madonna is in Malawi to oversee the construction of a children's health care center which her Raising Malawi organization is helping. Said center is planning to house 400 children who lost their parents to AIDS.
I have expressed my doubts about Madonna's (and other celebrities') intention to adopt kids from poor countries but I do feel that her and her organization's efforts in Malawi — publicity stunt or not — should be commended. It will definitely help give more kids a better future.
