Tonight was the annual 'Meet the Teacher' night at our school where you find out your child's teacher and classmates for the next year. Since we are in year round schools and our track heads back to school on Monday, this was the last possible moment to do it. (if you are new to year round Terminology, a track is basically what schedule you have through out the year - we are track four which basically means most of January, April, July and October off)

My daughter is starting fourth grade, here that means they'll have their home base but switch classes for two academic subjects. On her track, there are two fourth grade classes so one teacher will handle math and social studies, the other science and reading/writing. Granted she can't forget bringing things to the next class since they are right across the hall from each other but it is a good way to get used to working on a subject in a much shorter time span and being ready to transition.

We have a teacher, new to the school and the profession in general it appears. A mid-life career change from what we hear, he's just moved here from New York. Our last experience with a male teacher wasn't very good so I'm sure hoping this is a better experience!
