Melanie Martinez Interviewed by New York Observer

When Melanie Martinez was fired by PBS Sprouts from the Good Night Show, parents and supporters let PBS know of their sentiments through email, phone calls and blogs. Unfortunately, PBS refuses to listen.

And with this interview/profile by Rebecca Dana on the new york Observer, I guess, a lot would be even more convinced (at least, that is what I think) that PBS overreacted because, hey, Even Mister Rogers Had a Past.

I am also the mother of two young sons, one of which is 2 1/2 years old. My 2 1/2 year old loves Melanie and used to do exercises along with Melanie while watching the Good Night Show. I obviously watched the Good Night Show with my son and thought Melanie was the perfect host, I don’t understand how something that happened that long ago would come into play. The kids watching Melanie would have no clue of the work she did years ago, but do know she is no longer one of the people they were used to saying good night to as part of their regular bedtime routine.

PBS Kids Sprout NEEDS TO LISTEN TO THOSE WHO THEY ARE EFFECTING.

I can’t believe that PBS fired Melanie over something Kids have no clue about. All my 3 year old daughter new was that she LOVED watching Melanie every night and misses her dearly. She asked for weeks on end when Melanie was coming back. It broke her heart to see someone new. She still says that she doesn’t like Leo as much but watches Sprout for the shows now, instead of watching for the Goodnight Show. SHAME ON YOU PBS!!!!!!!!!
