Mom in High Heels

Mom in High Heels

I've seen a lot of moms do it. I've always thought that those moms look far from frumpy. They also look like they have it all together — motherhood and membership in chic-dom.

Not that I never owned high-heels. I've always had a few pairs ever since I started working at 22. It's just that I never dared to wear high-heels while pushing a babystroller.

So, today, wanting to complete my outfit to match my newly bought winter coat, I tried it out.

And you know what? I looked great! I swear, I even earned a couple of admiring looks from strangers. Contrary to my previous fears, my "function" as a mother was not lessened even whilst wearing high heels. In fact, I even ran at one time because I was late and had to be some place at 5:30pm.

Despite my "successful" day as a mom in high heels, I have to say that I would rather limit it. Why? Because, despite the fact that many women swear that they are comfortable in heels, I would have to say that flat shoes are A LOT MORE comfortable to wear. Baby or no baby in tow.

Hi Mellisa, great blog! And yes, thats the beauty of dichotomy, a mom and a chick-woman-in-control. The question is, which one is more challenging/fulfilling?

It took me a couple years to get back into “high heel mode”, but I do wear them once or twice a week now. They instantly make you taller, thus more slender- with all the extra “baby weight” I’m still hauling (nevermind that my daughter will be three in just over two weeks…) how can you NOT wear them occasionally?!

Oh i love high heels. Since it’s cold right now I’ve been wearing 3 inches boots but they are stacked heels which are so in these days anyway. And those are very comfortable.

I agree – but luckily in America you do so little ‘walking’ that you really can wear them for a whole ‘day’ outside the home, then just kick them off when you’re back. Cheers

A woman remains a woman even after giving birth, I highly appreciate women who make time for their look, everybody appreciates that. And besides we are talking about shoes and most women love shoes, special high heels ones.

Haha! That’s my blog name! I wear heels almost every day. I do take them off when I’m in the house (I’m not a masochist), but I don’t find them uncomfortable (mostly, depends on the shoe) and can easily do all the mommy things I need in them. Break out the heels ladies!
