My week in the hospital

I haven't updated my blog for the past week because I spent the whole week in the hospital. My son was admitted due to a kidney infection. Since he couldn't speak yet, we only found out that he was sick when we got there. Poor kid, was probably hurting for the past week.
It was such a surreal experience. I never imagined that something like that would happen to me. Rushing to the hospital in the middle of the night and seeing the doctor take 3 vials of blood from my son's head, that just happens in E.R. (the TV series) and not in real life. That was tough. My husband left the room because he couldn't handle it, but I chose to stay, because I wanted my baby to know that Mama is with him throughout his ordeal.
His urine results came back positive, it contained bacteria. And then an hour after came the blood results. The normal protein content for his age is 0.6, his was 6.0. Yup, it was that high. He got his first antibiotic shot at exactly 1 a.m. By that time, my eyes were so swollen, I couldn't even see clearly anymore.
So after 2 blood test, 3 urine tests, 2 ultrasound tests, and 4 promille, my son is back to his healthy self. We're still scheduled to have a CSYTOURETHROGRAM (VCUG) next week, and I'm hoping that everything is ok. I'm hoping and praying that what he had was a one-time thing, never to happen again. I'm crossing my fingers and saying my prayers for the results to turn out normal.
Although the accommodations was less than ideal (I had to split the room with two mothers and 2 babies), I am thankful for our stay in the hospital. Thanks to the nurses and the doctors who looked after my son.
