On Summer Break
After a 10-month school year…my son (a first grader) is now on summer vacation. He will have a full 3-week vacation before he comes back for a summer class in math and reading. Because those are his low points and have to take remedial sessions that will last for a month. Afterwhich, another 3-week vacation and then he'll be off to second grade.
At the moment my son is enjoying playing with the kids in the neighborhood. They have been flying kites and just running around in the yard. Then at noon time (height of sunshine) I let him work on his take-home workbooks in preparation for his summer class. If it's just up to him he'd rather play all day of course. But then he got school stuff to take care of still, so he's got no choice.
So how are your kids enjoying their vacation?
