Pets, Frontline Plus and Teaching Responsibility

After many months of wheedling and cajoling, I finally cave in to my 7-year old son's wishes to have a house pet. See, we live in a tiny flat, we have an infant in the house, and I take pet care as a big responsibility. I wasn't sure if my son really knew just how much of the work having a pet entails, and which tasks he can assume. He originally wanted to have a puppy or a hamster, but with his multitude of allergies, we had to choose something more allergy-friendly. While Frontline Plus may be able to take care of the fleas and ticks, we do not have a budget for a hypoallergenic dog.
In the end, we've opted for a small aquarium with 8 little fishies. It may not be what he originally wanted, but he's warmed up t the idea, and has learned a few lessons in responsibility. It's been a couple of months, and so far, so good. The fishies are surviving, and just as importantly, WE are surviving, too!
