Posh Decorations for the Children’s Room

Most children's rooms pay homage to famous cartoon characters or, for older children, famous popstars. A style which I, personally, do not really like. Besides, as I have seen from my own child's reaction, some kids outgrow this "character phase" quite fast. And I do not think most of us have the energy to re-decorate every 2-3 years.
However, they did say that a child's bedroom should reflect his or her unique personality and not yours.
Nowadays, with the availability and continuous growth of stylish decorating choices, choices can go beyond Barney- or Blue's Clues-themed bedrooms. Same goes for older kids.
I have seen, say, Barbie beds in a room that is colored pink with Barbie appliques on all 4 walls and everything else Barbie inspired. An overkill! Whatever theme your child prefers, you need not have them plastered in every single furniture in the room.
Should your child insist on a particular theme, why not pair it with a plain furniture that looks classy and yet, is functional. Something like the Crosby Bunk Bed or the Cub Sleeper. It's a bit pricey, though, but (imho) worth its price.
That way, when they have outgrown their current fancy, all you need to do is change the rooms accents rather than the furniture itself.
On a tight budget? Have no fear. You can still decorate your child's room on a budget.
Out of ideas? Browse around with your child to find a design that suits you both.
And, most importantly, don't forget to have fun!

Melissa, you are perfectly right about baby rooms. We have plenty decoration styles that make our babies feel comfortable and warm and I am glad to have the opportunity to choose what right. I would go whit relaxing and warming colors and shapes.
