Baby commercials show moms with tears in their eyes as the doctor hands them their newly-born babies.
When my son was born, I was dead to the world after 3 days of unsuccessful induced labor which ended up in an emergency caesarean section. Days later, I was still exhausted and overwhelmed but I happily sat beside the wonderful flower delivery while I held my son in my arms.

I am glad that I did not suffer from post-partum depression but I surely can empathize and sympathize with those who did. With all the major changes that has happened and is continuing to happen, add to that the surge of hormones, it surely is not difficult to understand why post-partum depression often occurs.
