Preparing My Nest

Now that I'm into my 7th month of pregnancy, I have pretty much entered what is called the 'nesting phase.' My friends warned me about this. 'You'll be going crazy cleaning and organizing your home,' they said. And they were right. Since the past couple of weeks I'm finding myself getting more and more into the domestic mode. This unusual burst of energy has me cleaning out and reorganizing closets and drawers like never before. It's like I want my home to be absolutely spotless and perfect when the new baby arrives, and I need to make the most of the time I have before my backaches start getting worse in the weeks leading up to the delivery.
Re-decorating my home is another thing that is on my mind, a project that has been divided into lists that I am trying to go through as often as I can, crossing off whatever is complete. Another favorite activity? folding and re-folding the baby's clothes and re-arranging all the accessories and gear as they slowly start building up.
The nesting phase is proving to be a busy and exhilarating time, sort of like the countdown to the big change that's coming my way. By allowing my environment to be prepared for it, I'm finding that it's getting me more and more excited and less nervous about my baby's impending arrival.
