Scheduling a C-section

Scheduling a C-section

With my first son, labor was induced for 3 days. On the third day, when my cervix was finally dilated, my blood pressure shot down and my baby was in distress. Thus, I was given general anesthesia and an emergency C-section had to be performed.

"A c-section is a surgical procedure that involves making an incision in your abdomen and uterus through which your baby is delivered"

In a couple of weeks, I will be giving birth by Ceasarean section. This time, it is scheduled in advance.

One can actually have a vaginal birth after Ceasarean (VBAC). However, a C-section could be scheduled in advance if: you've had more than one previous C-section, you've had some invasive uterine surgery, you are carrying multiple babies, your baby is expected to be very large (which is my case now), your baby is in a breech position, you have placenta previa, you are HIV positive or the baby has a known illness which would make vaginal delivery risky.

In the case of scheduled C-sections, you need to be briefed by your obstetrician and you have to sign a consent form.

Concerned about recovery? Read this. I have a fairly low tolerance level for pain but I didn't really remember having such a hard time recovering after the C-section when I gave birth to my first son. Or, maybe, I just forgot.

Any of you who would like to share with our readers about your own C-section experience?

i didn’t have any problem recovering from C-section delivery. If ever I will give birth in the future, i will choose this option again.

Why is it c-sections seem more common nowadays? Is it because more and more babies are refusing to come out, prefering the comforts of the womb to the real world? :)
