Signing With Your Baby

The terrible twos is a normal stage in a child's life. Toddlers are oft misunderstood because some adults think that they are just having temper tantrums. What many adults (not just the parents) fail to understand is that these toddlers aren't trying to be rebellious. Instead, they have problems expressing their needs. They do not have the language skills to tell their parents what they want or need and this makes them frustrated. As frustrated as their parents who are trying very hard to understand what it is they want and need.
One of the best ways to tame your child's terrible twos is by teaching him/her sign language. You can teach simple signs which could make it easier for him/her to communicate with you thus, sparing you both from guesswork and frustration.
Rory of Hamelife started signing when his daughter turned 9-months. He started teaching her with 10 words: More, Feed, Mummy, Daddy, Thank You, Home, Hot, Toilet, Water and Help.
You could try it out yourself.
Open those communication lines early and spare your child all those frustrating crying bouts.

I am so grateful for you mentioning us over here, Melissa. Thank you so much.
We have had great success with signing, I would highly recommend it. I’m sure it has helped her in communicating altogether.
Psst (whispering very quietly) I’m a “he”. But Katherine has to be given all the credit for initiating the signing idea.
