Soccer Mom in the Making

Soccer Mom in the Making

My almost 8 year old son is increasingly getting interested in sports, and I've promised to enroll him in a soccer camp during the summer break. It was actually a toss between rugby and soccer, but I'm glad he finally decided to take up soccer. I can't help but cringe at the thought of my boy tackling in rugby! So by summer, I might just be a new member to the Soccer Moms Club, hah!

In the meantime, I'm thinking of subscribing to Sports Illustrated KIDS magazine. He does read the sports section of our daily paper, but I think it would be nice for kids to read articles that were written with kids in mind: interviews with sports heroes, comics, action photos, quizzes, and other stuff that excites children. I think it's a great way to encourage sports-mindedness in children! Probably a great read for soccer moms, too!

Soccer will teach him better social skills as well as you will build more friendships. Rugby moms seem to have a little more testosterone. Check out http://www.babycruisers.com while you are looking for things to get your child.
