Supersized families!
Filed in archive by Creative Weblogging on June 14, 2006
It's Baby Week on the Discovery Health Channel, so all week, the channel highlighting programs about having children. The other night, I happened to catch a documentary about the Duggar family. The Springdale, Arkansas based family of 18-- that's two parents and 16 children ranging from 18 to under a year old-- recently took their first vacation in six years. The Duggars traveled from their home in Arkansas to California. They were headed to Disneyland for the park's 50th anniversary. Along the way, the checked out the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, and a dude ranch.

It's not so common to see supersized families these days, but they do exist. Illinois based Rick and Cathy Arndt have fourteen children-- thirteen boys and one girl-- between the ages of 26 and 3 years old. The Arndts have an impressive Web site that offers cybersurfers a glimpse at their lives.

I can't imagine having so many children myself, but it's impressive to see how organized these two families are. If you're interested in catching the documentary about the Duggar family's vacation, tune into the the Discovery Health Channel on June 17th at 5pm Eastern time.
