IVF or InVitro fertilization is the process of uniting the egg and the sperm in vitro (in the lab or on a glass, as others have put it). The embryos formed are then transferred into the uterus. Ovulation is induced through drugs and hormone levels are monitored.
IVF has been performed many times since 1978. And nowadays, invitro fertilization is considered commonplace and has been used by infertile couples around the world.
