Marcus Fiesel is one of those kids.
The disabled 3-year old boy was not so lucky with having the Carrolls as his foster parents. So unlucky that he was later found, wrapped in a blanket, taped and placed in a closet. The Carrolls left him in that state before they attended a family reunion. When they came back, Marcus Fiesel had died.
To make the matter even worse, they tried to burn the body several times while pleading for help in finding Marcus.
They.are.sick.
Those who are placed in foster care should be protected and constantly monitored. There should be a higher standard for Child welfare and child protection. If not, we will hear of more tragic stories like Marcus'.

I am lucky enough to know a few families who are foster parents to formerly abused or neglected children, and can say that they really do make a difference with all the care and love they give this children. I asked them about this and they say they have unannounced check-ups from social services almost every two weeks, so I guess that Fiesel case is also a case of social services neglecting their job.

it's sad that someone would do that to a disabled child. people should know better than to mistreat or hurt a young child

Author Holly Schlaack's book tells the heartbreaking stories and we want to turn away our eyes. The book reveals the gaps in the foster care system as well as the successes. Any professional or private citizen will find Invisible Kids inspiring and challenging. (www.InvisibleKidsTheBook.com)
