Three more weeks until my scheduled C-section. People say that I am nearly there; that I will soon be crossing the finish line. But with the heatwave that we are currently experiencing and the standard pregnancy woes, three weeks seems like a lifetime away.

My only saving grace is that I have been through this (C-section operation) before. I know what to expect. I am not afraid.

But I surely am feeling impatient. The baby bed is ready. The baby stroller has already been assembled by my over-excited husband. The whole flat smells like the hospital cleaning staff went around and annihilated all the bacteria. Everything is ready. All we need is the baby to make its appearance.

But I still have to wait three more weeks.

Unlike my first pregnancy, I have not been spending so much time scouring the net and the library for more information. That 'been there, done that attitude' is ever present. So, what have I been doing if everything else has been done?

I have been dragging my single sister to the mall area. Looking at stuff which I already have. Trying not to look at stuff which would just be part of my 'wardrobe full of clothes which I cannot wear'.

What I am loving, though, is the smiles I get from strangers. Some with humour in their eyes as they see me waddling my way across the street. Some with pity as they imagine how hot it must be for pregnant old me in this heatwave-stricken city. And some, just impressed with the size of my belly in comparison to my height.

Three more weeks.

On the other hand, instead of complaining, maybe I should be enjoying these days. After all, after three weeks, I wouldn't be able to sleep as much as I want to anymore.
