Tragedy After a Heroic Rescue
A 4-year old girl and her mother were watching the big waves when it suddenly knocked the little girl off the jetty.
Thank God, Timothy Barry was nearby. The 54-year old man then jumped off the Pierpont Beach to rescue his grand niece. He was able to keep her head above the water until a surfer came and helped her to safety.
Sadly, his heroic rescue turned into a tragedy when Timothy Barry was then swept into the ocean by a big wave. He drowned. He was later found by lifeguards, face down and not breathing.
A sad ending into what could have been a triumphant story.
