Trick-or-treat Safety Rules

Halloween is just a few days away and we parents should be up on our toes not just with last minute costume changes, but also making sure that our kids are safe when they go trick-or-treating.
Here are 5 random ideas that parents should take note.
1. Since the weather is already getting chilly, make it a point that your kids are dressed properly when they're trick-or-treating. Let them wear at least an undershirt or make them bring an extra sweater when they go out.
2. Organize a group or know the kids (or the parents) who will be going with your child. In case something happens (knock-on-wood) you know the people to approach.
3. Make sure that they have flashlights with fully charged batteries and a functioning bulb.
4. Make a map of the route that they'll take and don't forget to set the boundary and the time.
5. If your kids are still young (of when they're not yet ashamed of you), accompany them or ask an older brother or sister to accompany them when they go trick-or-treating.

Great tips. I would like to add one that has helped increase safety, even when you’re not there.
Make an agreement that they will eat the candies etc WHEN they get home, so you can check the bountie yourself.
Sad, I know, but a great comfort when it’s needed.
And have fun!
