Update on baby burned in microwave

Good news. Eleven days after the microwave incident, baby Ana Marie has been released from the Shriners Burn Hospital, and is now doing well. The spokeswoman for Child Protective Services said that the baby has been making eye contact and is responsive when held.

Two skin grafts were performed on the 2 month-old baby for the burns that she suffered on her left face and hand. She is now in foster care and custody hearing is scheduled later this week.

The father, Joshua Mauldin, who was arraigned on Tuesday, apparently was not just satisfied in putting his baby daughter for 10 to 20 seconds in the microwave. Police testified that baby Ana Marie also spent time in the refrigerator and the hotel safe, AFTER hitting her groin on a hotel bed.

Eva Marie Mauldin, mother of Ana Marie, and the one who told the police that it was not her husband's fault but the devil's, said that her husband had a mental disability and efforts to help him have failed.

Two questions comes to mind. Firstly, why did she (the mother) leave her daughter in the father's care, when she knew that he had a mental disability. And secondly, if he had a mental disability, then why is he trying to be a preacher?!

It's just amazing what people come up with.
