Vision Problem in Children

When I was 10, I squinted at the blackboard through all my lessons. My teachers mentioned this fact to my parents during one of the parent-teacher meetings and it led to a consultation with an optometrists. I was given corrective glasses to, I assume, correct my vision problems.
23 years later and I am still wearing glasses (or contact lenses). The degree has nearsightedness has reached -6.75 from -0.75. I guess, those corrective glasses didn't really work.
I do not know what went wrong with the treatment of my vision problems. In any case, a child's eye problems should be detected early in order to assure that the condition is treated easily and successfully.
So how would you know if your child needs an eye exam? Tips for detecting vision problems in your kids includes scheduling eye exams early and often, know what to look for and give eyes a workout.
