Warning On Baby Sling Dangers: Suffocation
Filed in archive All About Babies , Safety on March 15, 2010

The baby sling that moms use to carry their babies around their necks is now under scrutiny. (The one in the photo on the left) Particularly it's danger/risk of suffocation - according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission as it issued a warning on Friday.
On putting the small babies on the baby sling, Don Mays explained:
"A very young infant's head will be folded forward. That cuts off the airway, and they essentially suffocate. Another problem could be if the baby's head could be nestled up against the carrier's body."
The recommendation therefore is not to use such baby sling altogether. There are a lot of safer ways of carrying your babies. I don't know about you, but this particular baby sling doesn't appeal to me at all and I never used anything like it in carrying my baby. I totally agree that there are better, safer ways of carrying your baby.
