Watching a Movie with Your Child

Today, my siblings and I took my three-year old son to watch the animated story of a penguin named Mumble. When we went into the movie house, all we (adults) expected from Happy Feet were cutesy penguins singing and dancing, aided by voices of big celebrities. All my son wanted to see were penguins on the big screen.
Since it was my son's first time to watch a movie inside a movie house, I was prepared to leave even without seeing the whole movie.
Well, we did leave but we did come back to see the end. It was not entirely age appropriate for my child. My fault since I didn't really "review" the movie.
Don't follow my example!
The next time you (or I) want to know if a movie is appropriate for your child, you may want to ask for help. Maybe other parents can give you a good review. Or, seek out the help of dear old WWW.
You could check out Screen It!
Another option is to check a movie's rating. A great guide would be Kids-In-Mind. It can "provide parents and other adults with objective and complete information about a film's content so that they can decide, based on their own value system, whether they should watch a movie with or without their kids."
BTW> My siblings loved happy feet.
