Weight Gain during Pregnancy

Pregnant women are encouraged to eat well and stay healthy. Obviously, weight gain is to be expected. But, there is such a thing as gaining too less or too much weight.
Pregnancy is not the time to diet. Women who do not gain enough weight are in danger of delivering babies with low birth rate; which is a major cause of infant mortality and other childhood developmental, physical and psychological problems.
On the other hand, gaining too much weight could cause you discomfort (fatigue, back pain, etc.). This could also increase the risk of a C-section; something which I experienced with my first baby.
So, how much exactly should you gain? Well, every woman is different. It depends on your BMI, pre-pregnancy weight and height/weight ratio.
Check Baby Center's Pregnancy weight gain estimator for an idea of how much you should gain.
Curious where all the weight goes? Check out Pregnancy Weekly for the breakdown. Interesting tidbit there.
Keep in mind that your and your baby's health will be greatly affected by your eating habits during your pregnancy.
