And adjust we did. To adapt, we made sure that we have the right tools and gadgets to make sure that our children's safety is not compromised whenever we are outdoors. They also serve as our back-up, should our children start feeling tired.
Apart from a baby carriage and an umbrella stroller, we also have a baby björn baby carrier, a deuter external frame backpack carrier and a bicycle trailer.
There were times, though, when we wanted to make a short trip and ended up doing more than what we planned.
Like last weekend...
We drove with our car and just wanted to get some drinks and a bite to eat in the city. We ended up walking several blocks more. On our way back, my 3-year old son got tired. So, my husband picked him up and carried my son on his shoulders.
And then... my husband tripped.
I was right beside him, pushing the stroller. Everything seemed like on slow-motion and yet, I wasn't able to do anything. I just watched as my husband -- along with my son who was perched on his shoulders -- fell down and made contact with the cement ground.
Thank God, nothing really bad happened. My husband -- despite falling down -- was able to tighten his grip on my son's legs. My son fell down but his head didn't make that dreaded contact with the cement ground. Thank God.
Unfortunately, as much as we prepare ourselves to make sure that nothing untoward will happen, accidents do happen. All we can do is hope that, should anything happen *knocks on wood*, we would have enough time to react and that our instincts would lead us to do the best thing in order to avoid anything from happening.
What about YOU? Has anything like that ever happened to you? What did you do? What happened?

Also, my head's in a whirl and I can't think of anything to match that.
Recently, Beth's Uncle Robert was holding her up in the air while leaning back in a chair. Then - crrraack - and the chair collapsed. He smacked his shoulder on the wall, almost dislocating it in the process. He was holding Beth well up in the air all the way through, so no harm came to her. He was alright. But, how bad is it to have an accident when you're holding someone else's child? Poor Robert.
Happily, they (and we) remain friends.
