Winter Clothes for Kids

As warm as warm can be.
Sweater, hat, scarf, mittens,
Coat, ski pants, boots,
An extra pair of socks,
Wow, I look so fat and chubby,
But underneath it's only ME!The "it's too cold!" problem can always be solved by wearing the right kind of clothes. The more comfortable and warm you are, the easier it is to enjoy winter time outdoors. Instead of whining about the lack of warmth, you will be able to concentrate on the nice patterns of snow and the beauty of the forest blanketed in snow.
And for children, it is vital to keep them warm to prevent frostbite and hypothermia.
Children should be dressed in layers. For babies
and toddlers, the rule of thumb is to dress them in one more layer of clothing than an adult. I dress my child with thermal underwear and socks as the first layer; a fleece sweater and sweat pants; and last would be a water-resistant snowsuit, waterproof boots, fleece-lined waterproof mittens and fleece-lined hat (yup, we love fleece). The same could be applied for babies. However, it would be best not to take them out when it is very cold unless, it is necessary. When layering clothes, keep the following in mind... the first layer (next to skin) should be of absorbent fabric; the middle layer should be warmer -- thus, my preference for fleece; and the last layer should be waterproof.
Of course, if the temperature rises, you can always take off one layer... that's the beauty of dressing like an onion.
Note that kids can truly be in danger if they are not dressed warm enough. Think onion, before you head on out to play in the snow with your little ones.
