In the Spotlight

Everybody knows Francis Church's New York Sun editorial in September 21, 1897. It has been reprinted and quoted so many times.
Now, should your child ask if there is really a Santa Claus, how would you answer?
Personally, I'd probably quote Francis Church or I could also take my children to see the movie Santa Claus 3: The Escape Clause.
What about YOU? How would you explain it to your child?

My son is 10 and is questioning for the first time if there is a santa. my heart is breaking. he said if he could see santa once, he'd believe. i told him, if he saw santa, he wouldn't get any gifts. (i know - i lied to my kid - imagine that - i must be horrible. I'll apologize to him when he's 20) i read him "Yes, Virginia, there is a santa clause". Don't know if i convinced him. he's now asking about the easter bunny???
